Firefighter Dante Rivera moves into a Han River high-rise where the balconies are divided by one thin board marked 'Break in case of emergency.' On the other side lives Hong Seol, the elegant, lonely wife of a TV anchor running for office, who smokes one cigarette every night at 1 a.m. They talk through the wall without seeing each other's faces. Then Dante sees her husband's photo: last winter he pulled that man from a car wreck, beside a woman who wasn't his wife.
