Restorer Im Si-won has thirty days to save a ruined 1930 portrait for a record-breaking auction. With the first layer of yellowed varnish gone, the silver-haired gentleman in the painting blinks. Yang Seo-ho is a fox spirit, sealed in oil for ninety-six years for the murder of the painter who made him, and he swears he was framed. Every layer Si-won strips away gives the fox back more of himself: his voice, his hands, his touch. And the client wants the final coat to seal him in forever.
